Dawg Days: Jumpstart

GET A JUMPSTART ON COLLEGE & GET READY FOR YOUR FIRST YEAR!

Dawg Days:  Jumpstart Summer Bridge is a summer experience at UMBC that strives to provide new first year students a chance to understand college academics, explore campus resources, engage in self-discovery, and connect to the UMBC and surrounding community. Through this program, students will interact with other incoming first years as well as campus faculty/staff.

Components of the Program

  • Students have the option to take a Math, English, and/or General Education Program (GEP) course during the summer
  • All students participate in weekly workshops twice a week to get connected to UMBC resources and offices
  • Classes will take place Monday through Thursday for the duration of the program and students will have a chance to go on field trips on Fridays
  • Students will have a chance to participate in tutoring and study hall to work on papers, study, complete homework and prepare for exams
  • Office hours and one on one appointments will be available with Dawg Days: Summer Bridge Staff
  • Participants will also enroll in a UNIV101 seminar for the fall semester to continue their academic support and campus connections

Please Note: Dawg Days Jumpstart includes a required on-campus component in the United States prior to the start of fall classes. International students interested in this opportunity should note that participants must be able to enter and remain in the U.S. for this portion of the program.
